The rebranding of Peterson’s to Lauren’s on Washington marks an exciting new chapter for this beloved local gift shop and children’s boutique that has served the community of Vicksburg for the past 30 years. This is also personal celebration for myself, as the owner for the past (almost) ✌🏻years! 🥳
As Lauren’s blossoms into its new identity, it promises to create a charming shopping experience that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly current, ensuring that every visit is a memorable one.🌸🫶
About Me
Hi! My name is Lauren and I am so glad you are here!! I am mama to two toddlers Veo and Charlie, dog mama to our black lab Lucy, wife to my amazing husband Charles, oldest sister of 4 girls, and aunt to 10 beautiful niece and nephews. I love walking in our National Military Park, talking anything pop culture and I am a mahjong enthusiast!! I have worked in retail my whole adult life!
From interning in NYC with the incredible shoe brand, Jimmy Choo to working for fashion icon, Diane Von Furstenberg in Dallas, TX. I worked for Albriton’s Jewelry in Jackson, MS for 7 years selling fine jewelry such as engagement rings where I earned my GIA diamond certificate.
A lot of life happened during my years of living in Jackson and working at Albriton’s Jewelry. I moved home to Vicksburg, Charles asked me to marry him, we tied the knot one hot August , we bought our first home, and had our beautiful first born, Virginia Owens “Veo” Waring. The previous owner of Peterson’s, the great Bobbie Marascalco always said to me-whenever I would run into the store - “When you get tired of commuting back and forth to Jackson- which you will! Call me and let’s talk!”
Just as Bobbie said, the day came and she was one of my first calls and off we went on our journey together. After working for Bobbie and getting my feet wet in the local business scene for 2 years I purchased the store from her in the summer of 2023.
The decision to move from a specialty gift store to a children’s boutique really came about from a need I felt our town was yearning for especially after having two littles of my own. I was looking for classic styles yet unique originals to fit my babies personalities.
I am so excited to offer clothing and gift classics to celebrate the precious special moments of a new baby, baptism, or losing a first tooth! to everyday little victories like just making it to school or a birthday party looking cute! We want to be there with you and your littles for all the life joys! We can’t wait to offer local pick up options for the days you just are barely making it from point a to point b or have multiple birthday parties and just need us to have everything wrapped and ready to run out to the car for you!
So many exciting things from a new website, refreshed baby registry platform to our new Birthday Bins giving all of our new and loyal customers a more accessible, efficient way of shopping with us! 🙏🥰
You may also notice a new look across our social media pages! We will slowly transition all social media handles from “Peterson’s” to “Lauren’s on Washington” so please do not be alarmed if we look like a new account, it’s still us! 😅
